Scalp Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy (CIT), has been used by beauty experts for years as a means of promoting a smoother and firmer complexion. More recently, however, Microneedling for hair growth has been growing in popularity as a viable solution for men and women suffering from pattern baldness.
Scalp Microneedling is a procedure in which small, pin-prick sized wounds are made in the skin to trigger the skin’s natural healing process. The body responds to the micro injuries caused by the microneedles by increasing collagen production that, in turn, results in new skin cells that generate new hair follicle growth.
At MAXIM Scalp Micropigmentation, our plastic surgeons and hair restoration nurses or technicians use a mechanical microneedling pen that allows for variation in needle depth, as well as a greater number of penetrations per second. Administered with a local anesthetic, the treatment is painless and usually requires four to six sessions that are performed every four weeks.
